Ride Like A Girl

2009 Schedule

The Austin Ridge Riders are hosting a five month program of weekly Monday evening women's mountain bike rides, plus weekend rides at local mountain bike trails / parks.  This is an opportunity to meet other women to ride with, learn new trails and skills.  Each ride will divide up into groups based on riders' abilities and speed and will have a beginner clinic/ride, intermediate and advanced group rides.  Rides will last 1 - 2.5 hours.  Prizes and gift certificates from our sponsors will be raffled away after every ride.

All riders must wear a helmet, bring plenty of water, and have a trail-worthy bike in good working condition.

Ride the New section of the Goodwater Trail
at Lake Georgetown
from the Cedar Breaks Trailhead

You’ve probably heard about the trail expansion project at Lake Georgetown. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Trail Steward Lee Compton and the awesome trail users who volunteered their time and energy, the first half of the trail expansion is near completion.

Where: The ride will start from Cedar Breaks Trail Head. The picnic lunch will follow after the ride in the Cedar Breaks day use picnic area.

Look for the ARR Banner. We will be riding the new section of trail from Cedar Breaks to Cedar Hollow, an 11 mile out and back route that will offer lake vistas, sweet singletrack, fun switchbacks and two newly rebuilt bridges.

Where is Cedar Breaks? Located on the south shore near the dam. From Georgetown, take FM 2338 west to Cedar Breaks Park Rd on left. Continue on road over dam to south shore boat ramp.

Monthly ARR Club Ride/Picnic and Camp-Out
with Ride Like A Girl

Lake Georgetown

9:00 a.m. ride
Noonish – Picnic Lunch Lake activities and afternoon games.

Camping overnight at Cedar Breaks. Food and beverages provided for lunch , dinner and breakfast.

Lake Georgetown is well-known for its camping, boating, and fishing opportunities. The park is clean and not as crowded as those closer to Austin or Lake Travis. There are group shelters that are perfect for large groups (like the ARR/Ride Like a Girl event in July). For the fishermen among us, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reports the large mouth bass population as “dense”.

Please RSVP to arrprez@yahoo.com if camping.
